SA-South African Airways: Let’s Stay Safe – 20 March 2023 Update 2 (POS-CA/USA)

South African Airways (SAA) is aware of the planned “national shutdown” protest action on 20 March 2023 – update 2

Further to the communication we sent on 17 March 2023 regarding the potential disruption tomorrow, 20 March 2023, we have information to share from Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) specific to access and egress at O R Tambo International Airport. We will communicate with you the ACSA plans for Cape Town and Durban airports once we receive them. Please note that SAA’s flight schedule remains unchanged.

Please note that the Passenger Terminal departures drop off and the arrivals pick up roads will be temporarily closed effective Sunday, 19 March 2023. The closure is a safety and security precautionary measure following the proposed national shutdown.

Vehicles will be redirected as follows:

  • Vehicles will be redirected to the Parkade 2 South Level 2 for pick up and drop off purposes.
  • Airline crew buses will be redirected to the bus terminal.
  • Emergency vehicles, Diplomats, Law enforcement agencies as well as
  • Diplomat’s vehicles must communicate with DIRCO for access.
  • Staff parking remains unchanged

Please note that law enforcement agencies will be monitoring all access areas into the airport, employees are requested to produce their permits at these access controlled areas. Should an employee not have a permit, they are required to produce their ID accompanied with a signed letter on a company letterhead from their employer clearly stipulating their name and ID number as well as their Managers contact details.
